Amirabdollahian met and held talks with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad in Syria’s capital of Damascus on Monday.
The top Iranian diplomat thanked Mekdad’s presence in the office of the Iranian ambassador to Damascus immediately after the terrorist attack.
The terrorist act of the Zionist regime has proved once again that the regime does not abide by any international regulations and humanitarian values, Amirabdollahian said, noting that the Zionist regime will definitely be punished and receive a crushing response.
He said, "We consider Syria's security as our security," while also noting that the Israeli regime and its prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu are approaching the end.
Faisal Mekdad, for his part, said that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria do not recognize the Zionist regime and it was well-known from the beginning that this criminal regime does not follow any international regulations or the UN Charter.
Amirabdollahian: Zionist regime will be punished
"I am saying loudly from Damascus that the Zionist regime will be punished and that America is responsible for the regime's attack on the Iranian embassy and must be held accountable," Amirabdollahian said in a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart.
"Today, we had important consultations with Mr. Bashar al-Assad, and in addition to bilateral issues, we focused on regional and international issues, especially the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza and the terrorist crimes committed by the Zionist regime in the Iranian consulate in Damascus," he added.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed out that Syria is at the forefront of the resistance, and consultations with high-ranking Syrian officials are of serious concern to Iran.
"Not long ago, we hosted the head of the political office of Hamas and the secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Tehran. High-level talks were held in Tehran with the presence of important Palestinian leaders," he further added.
The Syrian foreign minister said in the joint press conference that the Zionist regime is based on hatred, malice and aggression, and has committed every crime in the attack on Gaza.
"Mr. Amirabdollahian's trip to Syria happened after the Zionist regime's crime in the Iranian consulate in Damascus, and we also announced our humanitarian positions in this regard," he added.
"We had a meeting with the president of Syria a few minutes ago, and the president spoke about the strong relations between Syria and Iran. This trip is different from previous trips because the Zionist regime has violated all human values until today," he furhter added.
The Syrian Foreign Minister said that this criminal regime has committed all crimes, and this regime is based on hatred, malice and military aggression, and it is not limited to crimes in Gaza and the West Bank.
